Scores
2008-05-03: Salt Lake 2, Nashville 10 #
Morales: 1-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
Brown, M: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Evans: 0-4, 2 K
Loux: (L, 4-2), 5.0 IP, 8 R, 8 ER, 10 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 3.79 ERA
Wilhite, M: 2.0 IP, 2 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 7.07 ERA
How many times has Shane Loux been cut or whatever? I don't know, but it's games like that that show why. Lousy peripherals, misses too few bats, and leaks baserunners like a sieve; it didn't help that he was facing AAAA-hero Russell Branyan. Matt Brown, returned to the greener pastures where minor league pitchers roam the mounds, blasted a solo homer in the loss.

The Travs first scored in the second and never looked back, crossing the plate in six of nine frames.

Bourjos: 2-4, 1 2B
Phillips: 0-4

Norman: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Diaz: (L, 1-3), 5.0 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 9 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 6.00 ERA
Browning: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 2.87 ERA
With the wind whipping out to right at 17 MPH, you can imagine there were a few long flyballs that just drifted over the fence to become homers. In fact, Rancho out-homered Lancaster (the only JetHawk to go yard was Jon Still). Gotta get those guys on base first.

Fun fact: the Quakes faced Red Sox prospect Josh Papelbon in the ninth. Josh is the brother of the Red Sox' closer, Jonathan, and twin brother of Jeremy, currently pitching in the Cubs' system.

Troncoso: 1.1 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 0 K, 2 BB, 8.10 ERA
Falkenborg: (S, 4), 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 5.68 ERA
The 51's didn't let the Express get a glimpse of this one until Ramon Troncoso gave up two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Andy LaRoche was the starting third baseman but was pulled in the top of the second for pinch-hitter Kevin Howard, a strange move. (Update: From today's DT gameday thread, apparently LaRoche was involved in an inning-ending play, a take out slide by Tomas Perez, in the bottom of the first that shook him up pretty good and caused the manager to pull him out of the game [h/t nofatmike #515].)

Eric Stults got the win, his second, by pitching six strong innings, and even helped his own cause by going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
