Scores

2008-05-07: Albuquerque 5, Salt Lake 0 #
Morales: 1-4, 1 K
Wilson: 0-3, 1 BB
Austen: (L, 0-1), 5.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 7 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 0.90 ERA
Bonilla: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 5.29 ERA
Thompson: 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 1 BB, 4.38 ERA
The thrill is gone... David Austen started in his second game with the Bees and took the loss despite only giving up one run; his offense was unable to help him out. You know the pitching is having a hard go of it when Dallas McPherson walks twice.

The loss marks the fifth in the team's last six games.

2008-05-07: Arkansas vs. Tulsa: Postponed #
Due to rain; the game will be made up in a doubleheader starting tomorrow at 6:05 CDT at Drillers Stadium in Tulsa.
2008-05-07: Inland Empire 0, Rancho Cucamonga 2 #
Bourjos: 1-4, 1 K
Phillips: 1-4, 3 K
Trumbo: 1-3, 1 3B, 1 RBI
Bell: (W, 3-2), 7.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 3.75 ERA
Browning: (S, 4), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 2.70 ERA
Trevor Bell pitched seven innings of shutout ball, the second consecutive game he's done that. He retired the first nine he faced in order. Mark Trumbo drove in a run on an RBI triple (that must have been something to see, as Trumbo is notoriously slow).

James Adkins took the loss for Inland Empire, his second of the season. Only one 66er got as far as third base, Ryan Rogowski, who got a leadoff double in the top of the fourth and was bunted to third by Trayvon Robinson.

2008-05-07: Peoria 13, Cedar Rapids 7 #
Fuller: 3-3, 1 2B, 2 BB
Romine: 1-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Navarro: 1-3, 2 BB
Perez: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Fish: (L, 1-1), 6.0 IP, 11 R, 9 ER, 7 H, 4 K, 4 BB, 5.77 ERA
Seven errors total and two by the Kernels marred this contest, with both sides scoring four runs in the first inning; the big damage was in the top of the third, when 1B Efren Navarro botched Jose Made's grounder, allowing two runs to score. Robert Fish took the pasting for the Kernels, his longest outing of the year, and his worst. Clay Fuller had a perfect night at the plate, reaching by hit or by walk five times.

Memphis put up single runs in six different frames and scored three in the sixth to win this one, and there was only one homer, outfielder Joe Mather's.
2008-05-07: Carolina 6, Jacksonville 5 (10 innings) #
De Jesus: 1-3, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 K
Godwin: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 K
Muegge: 4.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 3.86 ERA

Hammes: (L, 1-2) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 8.69 ERA
Is Kershaw pitching in relief a sign that the Dodgers intend to call him up before Brazoban? It certainly marks the first relief opportunity this year he's had. Stay tuned... the Dodgers may see the minotaur sooner than this fall!

"You know the pitching is having a hard go of it when Dallas McPherson walks twice."

Is that intended to be some sort of thinly-veiled criticism of his plate discipline? Those of us who know Dallas personally and admire and respect both his character and his baseball skills are offended. I'd much prefer him on my roster than several current members of the Angels 25-man and 40-man rosters.

Since I've started keeping minor league data (the 2005 season), I note Dallas McPherson has walked twice in one game exactly seven times. In his defense, five of those were this season, and of course he didn't play at all last year. Take it for what it's worth.
