News
- Andy LaRoche fouled a ball off his foot in Wednesday's game and was later removed for a pinch hitter. Reserve catcher Danny Ardoin, whose spring training throw caused LaRoche to go on the DL in the first place, replaced him at third.
- Rich Lederer had Mark Hulet pinch-hitting in an interesting discussion of just how real the Salt Lake Bees' April really is. "[I]t seems clear that the club significantly over-achieved in April and we are already beginning to see the players come back down to earth in May."
- 51's long reliever Dwayne Pollok has no saves, but has saved his team plenty.
"He's been a savior for our staff," 51s pitching coach Jim Slaton said. "We had some starting pitchers who have struggled, especially early in the season, and he's come in and picked up a lot of innings for us. He's been very consistent.
"He pounds the bottom of the strike zone and gets a lot of ground balls, and he's done a fantastic job for us so far."
- Here's Thursday's Angels and Dodgers system wraps.
