Roster Notes
- Nomar Garciaparra is expected to return in time for the Angels series, May 16.
- Jason Schmidt will start a rehab assignment, possibly for single-A Inland Empire on Sunday.
- Rafael Furcal may be held out of the lineup with continuing back stiffness problems.
- John Lackey threw 88 pitches in his Friday simulated game. If he feels no ill aftereffects, he should join the rotation in the Chisox series.
- Former Angel Nathan Haynes was designated for assignment by Tampa Bay following Cliff Floyd's reactivation from the DL. Haynes was hitting .227/.277/.227 in 47 plate appearances for the Rays.
