News
- Fooled me! Looks like BA is publishing their Prospect Hot
Sheets on Fridays rather than Mondays, as they used to do; the
Angels
get a hit with Peter Bourjos:
No. 9 PETER BOURJOS, CF
Team: High Class A Rancho Cucamonga (California)
Age: 21
Why He's Here: .382/.447/.647, 13-for-34, 10 R, 4 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 5 RBIs, 3-4 BB-K, 6-for-6 SB
The Scoop: Bourjos has absolutely taken off in the month of May, hitting .372/.393/.575 in 113 at-bats compared to .298/.352/.381 in 84 April at-bats. He's been caught stealing just twice this season and is second in the minors with 30 steals. He has now reached base in seven consecutive games and continues to provide the Rancho Cucamonga lineup with plenty of RBI opportunities. - In the NCAA world, CSUF staved off elimination, beating UCLA 11-8. UCI advanced in its regional, and USD of course eliminated the Dirtbags. Stanford eliminated UC Davis, and beat Pepperdine.
- Back to the minors: Remember Dan Davidson, the Travs pitcher with fringy peripherals but an amazing 2.06 ERA? He's back with the Travs after a stint at extended spring training. The 27-year-old had left rotator cuff surgery after an abbreviated season with Arkansas last year.
- No Angel or Dodger prospect made Offensive Player of the Week or Pitcher of the Week.

Morales: 3-4, 1 2B, 1 BB
Sandoval, F: 2-5, 1 2B

Moseley: (W, 1-2), 7.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 6.45 ERA
Looks like that tendinitis or whatever it was (*cough*suck*cough*) cleared right up, as Dustin Moseley pitched a fine game, picking up his first win. Adam Pavkovich's two-run homer in the sixth capped scoring in that inning, which saw four Bees cross the plate. Salt Lake scored in crooked numbers in three different frames. Jason Bulger pitched a scoreless ninth to close the game out.

Sutton: 1-2, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Butcher: (L, 4-2), 6.0 IP, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 4.60 ERA
A pair of makeup doubleheader games, the Travs lost both, the first with Brok Butcher on the mound. At least this one they scored a run, Nate Sutton's leadoff homer in the third.

Phillips: 0-5, 1 K
Ortiz, W: 4-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 4 RBI

O'Sullivan: (W, 6-4), 5.1 IP, 5 R, 5 ER, 8 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 6.27 ERA
Browning: (H, 4), 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.23 ERA
Aldridge: (S, 4), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
I missed Hank Conger's return to the minors on May 31, but at least he got a hit and an RBI here. Wilberto Ortiz got a season-high four hits, missing a triple for the cycle, and has a little four-game hit streak going. The pitching wasn't so great, but that was easy to understand with a 25 MPH wind blowing at game time.

He also serves who stands and waits... Andy LaRoche drove in a run and had two hits in this one. The 51's led all the way and only an eighth-inning rally by the Beavers made it close.

His second-best start of the season (one more strikeout would have tied him with his May 1 start in which he received a no-decision also) but his offense was not able to oblige, and his bullpen was no help, either.
