Wait 'Til Next Year: Angels 5, A's 3
Jon Garland had unquestionably his best game in an Angels uniform, striking out eight; he's only fanned eight or more four times in his career prior to tonight, and the last time was on August 30, 2003 against the Tigers in Detroit, a godawful team that ended the day 37 games out of first place and eventually finished 43-119, the worst team in my recent memory.
Jose Arredondo relieved Garland after the latter melted down in the top of the eighth, leaving a man on second with nobody out; Jose made his outs in succession and nobody crossed the plate on his watch. Frankie got a nervous save, allowing a solo homer to Jack Cust but no further runs (despite a hit and a walk). Another series win, if a bit scary toward the end, and the Angels stretch their winning streak to seven games.

He was great, but it's tough to say a 7+ inning, 2 run performance is better than eight shutout innings, let alone "unquestionably" better.
