News
- Arkansas' Brian Stavisky was named Offensive Player of the Week; somehow, Hank Conger's five homers in two games didn't get there for the Cal League. No Angel or Dodger prospect was named Pitcher of the Week.
- Here's the weely league notebooks.
- The Bees activated Jason Bulger from the DL and activated catcher Tim Duff from the temporary inactive list (his wife gave birth to a daughter). LHP Daniel Davidson was sent to AA Arkansas, and catcher Alberto Rosario was sent to Rancho.
- Here's a Daily
Bulletin piece about Sean O'Sullivan:
O'Sullivan isn't overpowering, although he will occasionally reach 93 on the radar gun. He prides himself on his control, with just 47 walks in 230 innings the previous two seasons combined. He complements the fastball with a curveball and a changeup.
His brother, Ryan, was drafted by San Francisco in the tenth round and is still negotiating while playing for a summer team. His family lives in San Diego, so it should be fairly convenient for them when he makes it to the Show."Throwing hard isn't what it's all about," O'Sullivan said. "You have to be able to locate it and have command because hitters can catch up to a fastball. The only thing not throwing hard does is give you less margin for error. If you miss your spot the hitter will make you pay."
- Via FutureAngels (as
was the above piece), an article
on the injuries to Angels system catchers, and also one on
Brandon
Wood in the Fresno Bee.
"This season has just been a long one of adjustments," said Wood, who hit three home runs in two games as Salt Lake headed for a split Saturday in a Pacific Coast League doubleheader with the Fresno Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park. Fresno won the first game 4-3.
"I still haven't gotten to a point where I feel like I need to be."
