Dodgers Change AA, AAA Affiliations

The Dodgers have changed their AA and AAA minor league affiliations to Chattanooga, Tennessee and Albuquerque, New Mexico, respectively. The latter is a return to the team's old haunts from 1972-2000. The Dodgers were said to be looking for a AA affiliation in the Texas League but were unable to acquire one. The team will also join the Arizona League for their complex league affiliation.

In unrelated news, the Dodgers will change Friday night game schedules to 7:10 PM, the same as other games. Previously, Friday games had been set for 7:40.

Update: The Florida Marlins have announced they will move their AA affiliation to Jacksonville, which makes sense.

Update 2: The Albuquerque Journal reports the deal is for two years.

The Dodgers' press release says the 2009 field personnel will be announced at a later date.

Update 3: Dodgers.com story.

"complex league"? I've never heard that description. What's it mean?

The designation is for teams who send their lowest-level players to their spring training complexes. As in spring training, they form the same league (Grapefruit = Gulf Coast, Cactus = Arizona) but with a different name. Not all teams participate in the complex leagues; Toronto only this year joined the GCL.
