Kendry's Two-Homer Night, Offense Propels Shaky Lackey Past M's: Angels 10, Mariners 6

Lackey's first full game since returning was only barely more successful than his prior outing, seeing as how he gave up four earned runs and five total. For the longest time, it appeared as though he wouldn't get a win, because Jarrod Washburn was on his game for the first four innings or so. (Napoli wasn't, not defensively, anyway, throwing away a ball in the second that allowed two runs to score.) Wash imploded in the fifth for five runs, one on a solo shot delivered by Juan Rivera, but the night's biggest fireworks came on consecutive at-bats by Kendry Morales. Morales, hitting eighth as part of a lineup shakeup that also pushed Howie Kendrick to the nine hole (a move that seemed like a warning), homered in the sixth on a ball that looked like it might have been caught by Seattle center fielder Franklin Gutierrez, the ex-Dodger prospect; only, not so much.

Kendry launched another in the eighth off Denny Stark, and Howie Kendrick cashed in a run in the top of the eighth for his second hit of the game. It was the first multi-hit game for Howie since May 6, and Kendry's first hit since the first game of the Texas series.

Darren Oliver relieved Lackey after five, gave up a run, and then the Angels bullpen managed to get through the rest of the game without giving up a run. That isn't to say it was easy, because Jose Arredondo was exceedingly wild, and of course Justin Speier got a call, too, but managed reasonably well despite giving up a hit.

This new comment box seems to really mess up my tags for some reason.

I've noticed that, too.

Corrected above.

Apparently a known bug that Blogger is ignoring.
