Walkoff Walk #2: Dodgers 1, Padres 0
An insanely taut game that featured Jake Peavy (well, of course) and Clayton Kershaw (I can't have been the only one expecting him to implode, can I?), the Dodgers did almost nothing against Peavy save a handful of long flyball outs and a few scattered singles. The fact that Peavy went eight was an indication, perhaps, of how little faith Bud Black has in his bullpen, and sure enough, ex-Dodger Duaner Sanchez managed to eventually walk in the winning run. The funny part was looking at the "top batters" on the Yahoo box, one of whom was 0-for-3 Russell Martin — who drove in the only run.
It was the second time this year the Dodgers have won by a walk off walk (the last on April 15 against the Giants). In fact, the last time the Dodgers two such walk off walks in a single year was 1989, when Jeff Hamilton (April 23 vs. the Giants) and Mike Sharperson (September 16 vs. Atlanta) did it. One of these days I'll have to dig through the records and see if there's ever been three in one year.
