Angels Minor Leaguers Involved In Assault

The Arizona Republic reports that two Angels minor leaguers, Michael Rocco and Matthew Oye, were arrested on suspicion of assault yesterday after fleeing officers on foot. I'm assuming both were at extended spring training; Rocco was pitching for the Fullerton Flyers last year, and had pitched for two other teams in the independent Frontier League as well.
Police said Oye hit the victim several times with a metal pipe he found near a dumpster. A nearby car was also damaged during the incident.

The victim had visible injuries but refused medical treatment, and police said the extent of his injuries is unknown.

Rocco is being charged with assault and criminal damage, and Oye is being charged with aggravated assault, police said.
