CS2, Unassisted

How often do you see this play: the catcher tags the baserunner on an attempt to steal second? It happened today in the Cubs/Astros game. Morgan Ensberg got aboard in the ninth on a single. With Brad Ausmus at the plate and Farnsworth pitching, Ensberg attempted a steal on an 0-2 count, Farnsworth threw a pitchout. Cubs catcher Michael Barrett caught the ball and started running toward Ensberg, who was halfway between first and second, trying to get Ensberg to commit one way or the other. Ensberg held on and refused to commit, Barrett continued toward the basepath. Ensberg finally headed back toward first, but somehow he convinced himself Barrett had thrown to first. Ensberg spun around toward Barrett, who tagged him out.

Caught stealing, catcher, unassisted. Amazing.
