The Curse Of Milton's Grandpa: Cards 3, Dodgers 0

Okay, so Milton's being the dutiful son and attending his grandfather's funeral. No problem with that, but couldn't his grandsire have waited until November to die? Thanks to Bradley's absence, the Dodgers lost today. Okay, okay, Bradley's superior glove wouldn't have been fooled by those balls in the outfield today, but Bradley probably wouldn't have hit three solo homers to tie the game, either. Simply put, Morris stifled the Dodgers' bats tonight with one of the best performances of his career. In fact, the best news for the boys in blue came not from St. Louis but from the Bronx, where Cap'n Happy broke his non-pitching hand trying to slug a wall with far greater rigidity. Word is he might be able to get his hand into a glove and pitch his next turn up, but no guarantees. The Boss is upset, and "the Yankees began reviewing Brown's contract to determine whether a self-inflicted injury could void the guarantee language." Heh.

We've got Jeffy Weeeaver, we've got Jeffy Weeeaver... oh, and Yhency, too!

Update: I was wrong: there's more good news. Jim Tracy has recognized the wisdom of benching Choi:

"Obviously, if he was tearing it up, he'd be in there," said manager Jim Tracy. "He's young and we knew he was a work in progress. We'll continue to look for spots that we feel will serve him well. But tonight, it makes all the sense to have Robin Ventura play first base."
But in that same article, bad news: Jackson's done for the year. Thanks to his "continued wildness, he will not start or be expected to fill any significant role. He has one more minor league start Sunday."

Lima was great, holding that lineup to three runs. You couldn't have asked for better. You'd think he was done, but somehow he keeps on going.

Recap

Comments:
At least Brownie had the good sense to punch the wall with his left hand.
