HD Update
So, all three of yesterday's games were broadcast in HD, despite my carping to the contrary. Unfortunately, neither of FSN nor ESPN HD feel compelled to update their online schedules with the times for MLB playoff games, or even mention it on the ESPN MLB home page; the only way to find out about it is using your digital cable box, and even then, those timeslots are labeled at the beginning of the broadcast cycle, some time in the morning, so even twenty-four hours beforehand you don't know whether a game will be in HD or not. Feh.
Will Carroll justifiably gripes that Fox does their HD broadcast in the "old half-assed “digital widescreen” format", which indeed is pretty lame; ESPN letterboxes theirs, also a less-than-ideal showcase. I continue to pound on these guys, especially when INHD gets the job done right; it's not like there's no good examples to work from.
