Pickoff Moves

Gettin' lazy, but I'm working on something halfway decent but requiring a bit of research. You might like it.

NL Gold Gloves, Silver Slugger Announced

The National League Gold Gloves were announced, and two Dodgers won: Cesar Izturis at short, and Steve Finley at center. Also, Beltre won the Silver Slugger award for hitting at third base. Vlad Guerrero of the Angels also won a Silver Slugger, in a possible prelude to the MVP award.

Boras Beltran Wants Ten Year Contract

Intercourse yourself, Boras. Any team dumb enough to give him that kind of contract deserves the kind of prison-system love they'll surely get as a result.

Baldelli Tears Knee, Will Miss First Half Of Season

The sad thing is that my filter assumes a story isn't interesting unless it happens to one of the AL/NL West's teams, premier teams in either division, the Cubs, or one of the postseason contenders, either future or recent. As a result, I nearly passed on this story about the D'Rays' Rocco Baldelli, who injured his knee playing baseball in the back yard with his younger brother; he's expected to miss half of 2005. This is a team that can ill-afford any injuries, and somewhat ironic considering the kudos Will Carroll gave them for the team missing only 315 man-games.

Dodgers Interested In Brad Radke

The Dodgers are interested in Brad Radke and are expected to make no less than a two year contract offer to the former Minnesota pitcher. "Radke, 32, went 11-8 last season and ranked fourth in the American League with a 3.48 earned-run average. He has pitched at least 200 innings in nine of the last 10 seasons." Just what we need -- another 3-4 starter.

The Washington Whatsits

Will Carroll reports New Era has proposed hat designs for the Washington Grays. The Washington Times says the team will be called the Washington Nationals. Well... you know what I think they should be called...
