Escobar May Make First Start Against A's

Kelvim Escobar, who starts the season on the DL due to a sprained elbow, may only miss one start against the Royals, returning to make his first start against the A's the following Saturday, April 15. In his place, Kevin Gregg will appear in the rotation:
Last season Gregg appeared in 55 games for the Angels, all relief appearances. He hasn't started a game since 2003, when he made 29 starts split among Double-A Arkansas (11), Triple-A Salt Lake (15) and the Angels (3).

Gregg will throw in an intrasquad game at Single-A Rancho Cucagmonga today, with backup catcher Josh Paul tagging along. Gregg is scheduled to throw 65-70 pitches.

"We're confident we can get him to the 80-90 pitch range (Saturday) and that could be five or six innings," Scioscia said.
