Pickoff Moves, Bedtime Edition

Some games, some news.

Vlad Sees Quick Recovery

Says Mike DiGiovanna of the Times:
Right fielder Vladimir Guerrero, remembering his return from a similar injury in 2001, said he is confident he will be "fully recovered" from a partial dislocation of his left shoulder by the time he is eligible to come off the disabled list in two weeks.

"They're already setting up an exercise program that worked the last time, and back then, I only missed three or four games," Guerrero said Sunday through an interpreter. "This is the same type of injury."

...

"If the situation comes up again, I will do it the same way," said Guerrero, whose 2001 injury came on a dive back to first base. "I can't control [injuries]. I can't play the game careful. I'll play the game the same way."

Other Roster Moves

(Mostly) Interleague Madness

A few of these with ex-Angels involved:

Computer Time. Riiight.

Carlos Zambrano says the elbow stiffness he's been suffering from is related to the time he spends on the computer. He writes e-mails to his brother and others in Venezuela for up to four hours a day, so he claims.
"The thing I've seen about people on the computer and the Internet is that it's addicting," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said. "We told him not to get on it, and you turn around and he's on the computer."
Advice I certainly wouldn't give him.

Comments:
Bedtime at 8:47?

I don't plan on updating anymore before bedtime.

Spot-on analysis, Dusty. I'm sure those four-hour Internet sessions are far more taxing on Zambrano's arm than the 136-pitch starts you subject him to.

Damn, that was a nice looking swing by Kendry. He's thinner than I expected him to be.

And really, Carlos, you're a major leaguer. You ought to be able to afford a phone call to your brother.

There may be something to Vic's comments, but if there is, it contradicts what the Cubs training staff is saying. That is, the injury seems to be non-throwing-related.
