Polanco To The Dodgers?

Well, speaking of silly speculation, the Times rumbleth that the Dodgers are looking into a trade for the "disgruntled" Placido Polanco of the Phils. (So, when is anyone ever "gruntled", that's what I'd like to know... oh, wait...) Also possibly headed to the Dodgers is journeyman Ryan Howard (.290/.373/.528 in the minors, .056/.105/.056, 18 AB in 2005). Howard is blocked by Jim Thome, who is currently on the DL, but despite this openening, Howard isn't getting much playing time, and asked for a trade prior to the start of the season.

Polanco has a one-year, $4.6M contract.

Antonio Perez is "taking a crash course at third in triple-A", according to the Times, but as with recent callup Oscar Robles, he's primarily a middle infielder. The Dodgers have a number of good third base prospects in the minors, but none of them are ready now. Jim Tracy said, "We don't want to force-feed one of those guys at the expense of their development".

Comments:
I think Rob Neyer mentioned this exact possibility in a chat a week or so ago, I wonder if that's where the Times got it from. Polanco I understand, but I'm not really sure what the Dodgers need with Howard. They've already got Choi, is Howard really going to be any better than that? I doubt it. I suppose they could then trade one of them for something else.

Ooh, this would be nice. I have a feeling he's going to make it a moot point if he keeps hitting, but it would be nice for the Phillies to give the 2B job to Utley full time. I'm sick of seeing him sit on the bench for my fantasy team.

Disgruntled comes from the word "gruntle" which is an old word referring to the snout of a pig. And some people, when expressing dissatisfaction with something would make a noise like a pig.
For some reason, people put "dis" in front of "gruntle" and we have been forever disgruntled.
