Games, Games, Games
Red Sox 6, Angels 3
How much do the Angels miss Vlad? This game was all about missing Vlad. Also, it was about missing the player McPherson's supposed to become; he still struck out more often (four times) than he hit (2-12) in the series. The Angels need the longball. And they don't have anyone who can credibly and reliably deliver it.With the loss, the Angels slipped into second place in the AL West, a half game back of Texas.
Dodgers 10, Milwaukee 6
Another game in which the success of one part of the team (offense) masked the failings of the other part (Brad Penny, 5 ER, 5.1 IP). The Brewers aren't a bad team, and are getting better over time. Between former Angel and soon-to-be-former major leaguer Gary Glover, and on-again-off-again Wes Obermueller, the Dodgers found a nice pair of punching bags. But letting the Brewers -- hardly an offensive powerhouse -- even taste the game by giving up five runs is just pathetic.Kudos to Kent and Drew for actually hitting like they're paid to, and Werth for returning offensively the way we've seen him before. Now let's see them do it against real pitchers. Mike Rose's three walks were pretty amazing, considering.
Mets 12, Giants 1
After losing the first game of a doubleheader 6-3 to the Giants, the Mets came right back around and beat the snot out of Jason Schmidt. Schmidt's velocity was down and his control was simply awful. Accordingly, he gave up six earned runs in four innings, and four walks to boot. The Giants' bullpen wasn't much better, surrendering an additional six runs over the remaining five. Further hindering San Francisco's cause, Moises Alou had to leave the game early (after two innings) because of a tight quadriceps.Newer› ‹Older
