All-Star Votes In
According to ESPN, Cesar Izturis, who has led the voting at shortstop for the National League at one time, has been surpassed by former Angel David Eckstein. Izturis has made the team as a reserve. Jeff Kent will start at second base.
Update: I guess this strategy didn't work.
In the American league, Vlad will start in right field. Bartolo Colon will make the team as a reserve, as will Garret Anderson (who made the team on the players' ballot).

Notice the appearance of the washed-up Piazza and the so-far ineffective-in-the-NL Beltran. If you want to know why I'm not impressed by the All-Star game, this is it. Whatever.
Comments:
Two things are silly, IMHO...
1) the assumption that the All-Star game should reward first half performance only and...
2) blasting fan selection for a voting system open to every abuse imaginable.
If they followed Bill James' solution to the fan voting, it would generate a lot more interest. Shorter James: sectional voting which lead to analysis of which section made the best selections.
