Wheaties Got My Vote

Since I do not eat or like Wheaties or the All-Star Game, I completely and utterly missed this brilliant commercial using Vin Scully's call of Kirk Gibson's clutch home run in game 1 of the '88 World Series. I just made up for that watching the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game of the week. The funniest thing I've seen in a while, certainly this month.

And of course, Gibby's on the box.

Comments:
Rob, that is a great commercial. A buddy of mine was a finalist for the "Gibby" role before pulling his groin in the batter's box during at the call-back.

I think he took the whole injuried homer thing too seriously!

Vin's call of the homer is too often overshadowed by the Jack Buck call. My favorite part: "In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened." Still gives me goose-bumps.

I was reading somewhere recently that the Buck call was "more memorable" or some such thing; nonsense, I would say. Vinny outclasses them all.
