Pickoff Moves

Katie Brownell To Throw Out First Pitch Saturday

Katie Brownell, whose charming story has been told many times, will appear at Dodger Stadium on Saturday to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Given the Dodger bullpen, DePodesta might consider keeping her around for the seventh and eighth, too.

Now That Explains Everything

From today's Long Beach Press-Telegram:
"We've all been there," said starter pitcher Derek Lowe, who allowed five runs (three earned) in six innings. "You're learning how to play the game but also wanting to win at the same time.

"The last thing you want is guys pointing fingers, saying 'It's this guy's fault or that guy's fault," and you're not going to see that happen in this clubhouse."

So, how exactly does this work? Is it your fault if you have less than a $41 million, four-year contract? Because, in Tracy's Alice In Wonderland universe, guys who can (or at least, can do better than the guys getting the playing time, read: Choi) sit, while guys who can't are allowed to fail. No-fault baseball: the Dodger revolution!

Roster Notes

Comments:
I guess now that her firing at FSN is coming up next (or are they going to just reassign her to Pittsburgh?), Hughes can ply her trade without benefit of a press pass.
