See? Rockies 2, Dodgers 1

Izturis not in the leadoff spot.

Choi batting second.

Dodgers lose. See?

At least, that's what it seemed Jim Tracy was trying to tell us with this game. Against Byun-Hyung Kim, a pitcher with a 5.43 ERA coming into this game -- i.e., a guy barely hanging on in the major leagues -- the Dodgers could summon but three hits. I guess there's some kind of irony to it after Bradley got what is probably the goodbye kiss for the season in tonight's press conference. Second opinions will probably be limited to "and you should stop fighting with Jeff Kent."

Houlton gets, for his troubles, another tough luck no-decision, Steve Schmoll gives up two earned in two thirds of an inning, and I don't feel so well myself. I wonder how Kent feels; I hope it's about this big.

Recap

Comments:
Starting the right players is not magic. No matter what players Tracy had started, in what order, this team couldn't have gone 162-0. It's about playing the numbers. The team has been marginally worse most times Izturis leads-off. It's been marginally worse most times Phillips plays first. No one game proves any point. It can't; it's too small a sample.

Oh, I agree, but that's maybe the point; Tracy doesn't seem to give a damn. He keeps starting the wrong players anyway.
