Unequal Opportunity: White Sox 5, Astros 3

Really, a very limp game for the Astros, who simply failed to make Contreras pay for his mistakes. Hitting two batters in the top of the seventh -- neither starter in tonight's game was particularly effective -- Contreras worked his way out of the jam with no damage. Willy Tavares doubled to lead off the eighth -- and the Astros couldn't get him home. An inability to get runners home with men in scoring position has apparently been a problem for the Astros all year, and tonight was no exception.

Clemens came out after two, fulfilling my prediction of trouble for the aging ace if the weather got cold -- which it was, 53 F at game time and getting colder as the night went on.

As an Angels fan, I have to admit pure disgust watching Bobby Jenks record the final outs of the game while throwing 100+ on about five straight pitches. Next year's bullpen is going to be a trainwreck for the Angels, and one reason why is because Bobby Jenks is in a White Sox uniform.

Update: ... but it could be worse. I could be, say, George Steinbrenner.

Comments:
About Clemens -- the broadcasters pointed out that it's sore hams. If so, then he would have had problems even in warm weather conditions.

Who is this Bobby Jenks? How the #$@#%# could we give up on a guy who seems to DIAL the fastball at 100? Wow.

Some wonderful fielding by both teams. Can't imagine the Astros feeling good about blowing opportunity after opportunity to score.

Who is Bobby Jenks?

A top prospect the Angels gave up on.
