Camelot: Angels 5, Rangers 4
But that cranky aside aside, the real, good Kennedy, the one in an Angels uniform, continued his early season heroics, today smacking a game-winning double in a real nail-biter. For the world, the Angels did a remarkably good impression of a team choking in front of an unfamiliar pitcher, one whose infinitesimal 0.94 ERA against had as much to do with the fact that the Angels had previously seen him in an Orioles uniform as it did that they had seen Rick Bauer but rarely (four games but only 9.1 IP). His appearance as a starter was something of a flyer, and Buck Showalter finished up by putting five relievers on the mound. That included Antonio "El Pulpo" Alfonseca, whose spring efforts might have landed him in AAA, but didn't; proving spring numbers are meaningless, he's yet to give up an earned run, and thus shocked me when, with Erstad on second and Salmon up to pinch hit for Molina, Alfonseca got Timmy to harmlessly ground out.
And yet the miracle, 1/162nds of a season with a bit of good fortune and Adam Kennedy at the plate to do the good work, sending the crowd home happy. It's better than Lerner and Loewe.
For those who don't know, Rob's a Libertarian, and a pretty middle of the road guy politically speaking. He dislikes both major parties, and will bash both equally. (And it's usually deserved - He's right that cults of personality do this country no good.)
