Camelot: Angels 5, Rangers 4

I always hated the idea of Camelot as practiced by the hacks in the 60's press; that Kennedy was a rank fraud who played the media like an accordion. The fact that he got his name attached to a second-rate musical hasn't endeared him any more to me, especially since it's given momentum to the idea that cults of personality are a good thing. Democrats grousing about the current invincibility of the Bush juggernaut ought to stop and consider how much such thinking has helped along their opposition.

But that cranky aside aside, the real, good Kennedy, the one in an Angels uniform, continued his early season heroics, today smacking a game-winning double in a real nail-biter. For the world, the Angels did a remarkably good impression of a team choking in front of an unfamiliar pitcher, one whose infinitesimal 0.94 ERA against had as much to do with the fact that the Angels had previously seen him in an Orioles uniform as it did that they had seen Rick Bauer but rarely (four games but only 9.1 IP). His appearance as a starter was something of a flyer, and Buck Showalter finished up by putting five relievers on the mound. That included Antonio "El Pulpo" Alfonseca, whose spring efforts might have landed him in AAA, but didn't; proving spring numbers are meaningless, he's yet to give up an earned run, and thus shocked me when, with Erstad on second and Salmon up to pinch hit for Molina, Alfonseca got Timmy to harmlessly ground out.

And yet the miracle, 1/162nds of a season with a bit of good fortune and Adam Kennedy at the plate to do the good work, sending the crowd home happy. It's better than Lerner and Loewe.

And the next best thing was that since the comeback was in the bottom of the 9th, Frankie didn't have to come in and get cuffed around while still managing to get the save.

Yes a great come from behind victory, was lucky enough to witness it myself. But shut up with the JFK/Democrat bashing bud and stick to friggin beisbol, okay?

:-) Rob, now you're being razzed for bashing a Democrat. LOL. Where are the folks who called you a raving liberal?

For those who don't know, Rob's a Libertarian, and a pretty middle of the road guy politically speaking. He dislikes both major parties, and will bash both equally. (And it's usually deserved - He's right that cults of personality do this country no good.)

Refresh my memory Rob, whose blog is this again? And does said person decide on all matters pertaining to content?

Rob's a Libertarian huh? Well I guess anyone who believes in low taxes or abolishing taxes altogether and is an Angel fan is okay in my book. Last night's game was horid to watch. What's with Orlando and his three errors so far? Any comments about the game?
