Intermission: Dodgers 7, Pirates 4

So the floor-mopping with Jim Tracy's Pirates ran to its series completion, despite everything the fates could do to give the Pirates at least the barest of chances to break their soul-destroying 11-game losing streak — like giving the Pirates the soft underbelly of the Dodgers' rotation, i.e. Brett Tomko and Aaron Sele. Both proved equal to the task at hand, and though Brad Penny was hardly dominant at any time during his stint on the mound, verily, it was enough.

I understand that earlier in the year, A. Martinez presumed to forecast Nomar Garciaparra's home run total at nine. No doubt, he's suitably chastized.
