Mike Lieberthal And The Dodgers, Other Roster Notes
- Catcher Mike Lieberthal might be on his way to playing for the Dodgers as a reserve, but the Dodgers have some objections they'll have to overcome: he's about to turn 35 in January, he's injury-prone, they don't want to give up any draft picks for him, and so won't sign him before December 1. The Dodgers are also trying to unload Toby Hall.
- Journeyman lefty Matt White got an invitation to spring training.
- The Dodgers will unveil their new old uniforms with the names on the back later today. About fargin' time. Just in time for Vin Scully's birthday.
- The Dodgers thinking about Luis Gonzalez? Why?
- The boys in Chicago think there's something to the Figgins-Santana/Crede-Garcia trade smoke. Me, I don't buy it.
- The Cubs making offers to Jason Schmidt? It makes sense considering their tattered rotation; but it's unclear how healthy Schmidt would be during the 3-year/$45M deal he's allegedly mulling.
- Mike Piazza is considering offers from the A's and Phillies. Go with the AL, Mike.
Someone Isn't Paying Their Domain Bill
Oops.
Comments:
McCourt had everyone singing that the name on the front was what was important for a while there... Are ALL his bad ideas on a two year cycle?
Well, per MLB rule, teams can change their uniforms only once every two years. Thus, once the Dodgers removed the names, they had to play two seasons with those uniforms before they could be changed back. Hence, the change goes into effect for 2007, even though they decided to put the names back on over a year ago.
