Scores
Gorneault: 0-5
Evans: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 K
Brown: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K
Smith, Ca: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
Wilson: 2-4, 1 RBI
Rouwenhorst: (L, 9-5), 6.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 9 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 5.12 ERA
Thompson: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 0.93 ERA
Jonathan Rouwenhorst took a tough-luck loss despite pitching a quality start, though it took far more effort than it probably should have; he gave up nine hits and a walk while striking out only two. Rich Thompson (there's still the temptation to work the word "Aussie" in there every so often) continues his preternatural string of successes in the PCL, fanning two today and actually lowering his AAA K/9 to 13.03.
Matt Brown's solo homer helped, but not enough. Nick Gorneault is in quite a slump, going 0-for his last five games.
Sandoval, F: 3-4
Rodriguez, S: 1-4, 1 K
Myers: 2-4, 2 RBI
Collins: 1-4, 1 K
Adenhart: (W, 8-3), 8.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 H, 4 K, 3 BB, 3.21 ERA
O'Day: (S, 4), 1.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 3.21 ERA
Baseball returns to Dickey-Stephens after Sunday's tragedy. The home team won on Nick Adenhart's eight-inning, one-run game, though with only four strikeouts and three walks, it worries you a bit. He leads the Travs in both stats, with 82 strikeouts and 46 walks. He also has only allowed the opposition to leave the yard against him four times.
Darren O'Day picked up his fourth save despite giving up a run on three hits.
Corey Myers drove in half the Travs' runs. Freddy Sandoval extended his hitting streak to seven games, going 3-for-4. Coincidentally, the Travs have won seven straight.
Statia: 1-5
Larue: 1-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 K
Brewer: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Ortega: (W, 5-9), 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 6 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 3.85 ERA
Arredondo: (S, 3), 1.2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 8.66 ERA
Rancho led the whole way, scoring two in the second on former Long Beach Armada slugger Jeff Larue's home run, his first of the year. Christopher Pettit extended his hitting streak to seven games by going 1-for-5 with a run scored. The bats overcame three errors, two of them fielding errors by Larue.
Alberto Bastardo took the loss for Inland Empire. Drew Locke went 3-for-4, all singles, and Russell Mitchell had a three-run homer, his 14th of the year.
The Quakes have won six of the last seven games against the 66ers.
Phillips: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K
Ortiz, W: 2-5, 1 2B, 3 RBI
Nieves: 3-4, 1 3B, 2 RBI
Davies: 2-4, 1 K
Albano: 2-4
Bell: 3.0 IP, 8 R, 7 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 3 HR, 5.09 ERA
Browning: (BS, 4)(W, 7-3) (in relief), (BS, 4)(W, 7-3), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 3.12 ERA
Madrigal: (S, 8), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 2.40 ERA
A ton of scoring in this one as Peter Bourjos returned from his long stint on the DL and crushed a grand slam in his first game back. P.J. Phillips also homered, breaking a 12-12 tie with a solo shot in the 8th.
Barrett Browning took a blown save but got the win. Trevor Bell had perhaps his worst outing all year, going only three innings and giving up eight runs, seven earned. Warner Madrigal collected his eighth save, striking out a batter on the way to a perfect ninth.
Perez: 1-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Gonzalez-Lopez: 3-4, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Green: (L, 0-1), 1.2 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 5.06 ERA
Davitt: 3.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 6.10 ERA
The Owlz are on a rough patch, losing 8 of their last 10 and hurtling down toward the cellar of the Pioneer South division. Lou Green made only his third appearance for Orem and got shelled in his second start; he has yet to pitch more than two innings.
Julio Perez homered, his first, and Jerry Gonzalez-Lopez went 3-for-4. 22-year-old Jay Brossman had his fourth 4-hit game of the season. Brossman is a former University of Utah product, so he's a local to these parts.
Young: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB
LaRoche: 1-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Barnes: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Pinango: (L, 6-5), 7.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 7 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 4.03 ERA
Bauer: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 6.00 ERA
Choo Freeman and Larry Barnes both homered, solo shots that weren't enough to get Las Vegas over the top, and the only scoring for the 51's. Miguel Pinango had a fine outing that included seven strikeouts.
Dewitt: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Howard, K: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Dunlap: 0-2, 1 BB
Nicholson: 2-3, 1 2B
McDonald: (L, 2-1), 4.2 IP, 4 R, 1 ER, 7 H, 3 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 1.15 ERA

Peterson: (L, 0-1) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 5 BB, 22.50 ERA
Gonzalez: (BS, 1), 0.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
Clayton Kershaw... what to say? Three of his last six outings have been less than five innings long, though not so many runs and thank God. It got worse, though, as the Loons burned through pitchers like nobody's business, with not one but two pitchers collecting blown saves. The Loons punched through for five runs in the top of the 12th, but with no other pitchers available, manager Lance Parrish called outfielder James Peterson to the mound to try for the save. He didn't get it, giving up six runs, five earned, taking his first professional loss.
Both sides combined for 34 hits in a game that took four hours and 19 minutes to finish, the longest game the Loons have played this year. Juan Apodaca and Matt Berezay both homered, as did Tommy Giles — twice.
Ortiz: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Gallagher: 2-3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Krise: 5.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 10.13 ERA

Silverio: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Orr: 2-4
