Unwatchable: A's 4, Angels 3

This team can't pitch, can't hit, and can't win; the last series they won was against Texas, but it's the only one they've put together all month. The Angels are just plain unwatchable right now, and I'm getting increasingly convinced they have no real hope down the stretch. Yeah, I know, you're not as bad as you look when you're losing, but Speier had control problems today, Shields had another bad outing, and the team couldn't do jack against DiNardo. It's been the same damn story all month long. Pull your heads out.

A special extra helping of hate goes to Gary Matthews, Jr., who fangraphs.com tags as the goat of the game. I'm another month away from thinking his deal really is as bad as I thought it was at the time of the signing.

Now that I think about it, what the hell is Brandon Wood doing wasting time on a major league bench, getting once-a-week at bats? If the Angels can send down Kendry Morales, they sure can return Wood to the minors, too. If they're gonna have a player who gets in once a week, it may as well be Nathan Haynes.
