News
Here's a brief piece in the Peoria Journal-Star about Lance Parrish and the job he's doing with the Great Lakes Loons:It was under Anderson in 1984 that Parrish won his only World Series ring."It was one of those magical years when we started 35-5 and we maintained not that pace but that intensity," Parrish said. "I learned what it took to be a championship ball club."
The Loons have been far from that. The team came close to .500 in the first half but has really struggled in the second.
"I think everybody, when they start the season, has high expectations and they want to win," Parris said. "Winning games is how you have fun. It's difficult when you fall below expectations on what you want to do on the field."
Scores
Smith, Co: 2-4, 1 K
Morrissey: 2-4, 1 RBI
Rodriguez, S: 0-4, 3 K
Collins: 1-3
Adenhart: (L, 8-6), 5.0 IP, 6 R, 6 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 2 HR, 3.55 ERA
Hunter: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 4 K, 0 BB, 5.34 ERA
Just a terrible outing for Nick Adenhart, his worst since a May 22 start in which he gave up six earned runs and only got through 2.2 innings. The fact that he still has a 3.55 ERA after this should tell you what kind of a job he's done in the Texas League; even though it was his third straight loss (and his fourth in his last six starts), four of those were quality starts plus (either more than six innings or two or fewer earned runs allowed).
Leadoff man and centerfielder Brad Coon homered and drove in two, carrying the weight of what little offense Arkansas posted.
Peel, A: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Pettit: 2-5, 1 2B
Infante: 2-3, 1 BB
Toussaint: 2-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 2 K
Ortega: 7.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 6 H, 11 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 4.11 ERA
Arredondo: (BS, 3)(L, 2-3) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 0 BB, 6.51 ERA
Anthony Ortega posted a season high for strikeouts with 11 but gave up three runs, all earned. Brought in to hold a 5-3 lead, Kevin Jepsen failed to make an out, and was replaced by Jose Arredondo. Arredondo allowed both his inherited runners to score, complicated by errors on consecutive plays by 2B Tadd Brewer and 3B Larry Infante.
Mount: 2-4, 2 2B, 1 K

Ford: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 2.89 ERA
Meet Robin Molina, win magnet. Boasting only three quality starts in his 10 starts this season, he yet is 5-2 on the season. Go figure.
Dunlap: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Raglani: 0-2, 2 BB
Kershaw: 0-1
Paul: 0-0, 1 BB
Kershaw: 4.1 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 4 BB, 2 HR, 4.15 ERA

Troncoso: (W, 7-2) (in relief), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 3.43 ERA
How does Clayton Kershaw have this great reputation and yet fail to even register quality starts with some regularity? He hasn't had one since June 23...
