The Stupidest Baserunner In Baseball? Blue Jays 2, Angels 1
I have seen Erick Aybar make some mighty dumb baserunning blunders, but this one today topped them all. Getting picked off of first with nobody out... grr. Dumb as a post.
Gary Matthews, Jr. stranding the tying run at third in the fourth, lining into a double play in the ninth, and according to at least one account, failing to make a play in center (how many times have we heard that before?), earned him goat of the game. All this hat-tipping is getting pretty tedious, something even he recognizes:
And look, guys. When your number five starter hands you five innings of two-run ball, you provide him with some offense.

"You feel bad as a hitter sometimes because our pitchers have done their job," Matthews said. "We've run into some good pitching and we haven't gotten it done."Recap • Yahoo BoxScioscia said he'll try to give his hitters a break by skipping batting practice before Thursday's series finale.
