Hokie Joe And The Run Support: Angels 10, Orioles 5
Joe Saunders got a ton of run support that he ended up needing, it being he had very little in the tank — unlike Vlad, who homered twice. Both Reggie Willits and Chone Figgins had three hits, an encouraging sign, and in general the Angels offense worked beautifully. The only bad news — and given how badly he's been hitting lately, it's hard to call it that — was Gary Matthews, Jr. getting pulled early from the game due to an ankle sprain.
Seattle got pounded 7-4 by Oakland, extending the Angels' division lead to 9.5 games. The Halos' magic number is now ten.
