Minor League Scorebook

News

Today is the last game of the season for all the minor league teams covered here save for the Pioneer League teams (who have five games remaining) and the complex league teams (GCL, AZL), who have already completed their seasons.

Scores

2007-09-02: Las Vegas 7, Salt Lake 3 #
Murphy: 0-4, 1 K
Wood: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 K
Evans: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI
Gorneault: 3-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Rouwenhorst: (L, 10-10), 4.2 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 4.96 ERA
Arredondo: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.50 ERA
Jonathan Rouwenhorst took his tenth loss and became a .500 pitcher for the Bees in his final regular season appearance of the year. Nick Gorneault homered (a fifth inning solo shot) and drove Brandon Wood home in the bottom of the eighth to account for two of the Bees' three runs. Jose Arredondo made his first career PCL appearance and allowed a run over two innings of work, striking out one.

John Lindsey paced the 51's with four RBIs; he's hitting an impressive .413/.471/.788 with runners in scoring position this year. Wiliam Juarez got the victory, which Las Vegas attained in a four-run fifth on an impressive two-out rally that saw doubles by Tony Abreu and Lindsey, as well as a scoring passed ball off catcher Tim Duff.

2007-09-02: Arkansas 1, Springfield 11 #
Coon: 1-2, 2 BB
Rodriguez, S: 1-4, 1 RBI
Collins: 0-3, 2 K
Rodriguez, F: (L, 8-4), 2.0 IP, 7 R, 7 ER, 6 H, 1 K, 4 BB, 2 HR, 4.52 ERA
Fernando Rodriguez gave up five runs in the first, including two walks to lead off the inning and a three-run homer by Mark Hamilton. The loss ended the Travs' shot at the postseason, while giving the new Springfield franchise its first postseason berth ever.

Sean Rodriguez drove in the Travs' only run on an RBI single in the fifth.

2007-09-02: Modesto 3, Rancho Cucamonga 4 #
Aybar: 1-2, 1 BB
Peel, A: 2-4
McRobbie: 6.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 8 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 3.43 ERA
Rodriguez: (BS, 3)(W, 4-8) (in relief), 3.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 6.02 ERA
Is Alex McRobbie another Joe Saunders? I sort of doubt it, but the Angels have had a good track record lately turning low-strikeout-rate guys into major league pitchers, so who am I to say? Anyway, another fine performance by McRobbie, who unfortunately wasn't able to collect a win because of a shaky performance by Francisco Rodriguez; the latter eventually collected the win thanks to Greg Dini's walkoff ninth inning RBI single that plated Clifton Remole.
