What's At Stake For The Dodgers

Since Jon's September 16 entreaty to get to 81 wins, the Dodgers have gone exactly 1-10. Clearly they're not listening, but there's more than just that at this point: The Giants may be bad, but they've won more games in their last ten (four) than the Dodgers (one). This could be interesting.

Tonight's game: Kevin Correia (4-6, 3.20 ERA) against David Wells (8-9, 5.53 ERA).

Sorry for the nitpick, but if the Dodgers go 1-2 they won't end the season with a losing record, right? Not that this season wasn't an overall loss, but still.

No, you're right. The Giants would have to sweep to give the Dodgers a losing season.

Shoot, you're too quick. I was going to add that I realized you could be right; SF could take the first two games and then the last game could get rained out w/o a makeup game called. (It looks cloudy outside right now, as it is).

But with next year's draft at stake and the rules for type-A free agent signings in force, the Dodgers might very well have an interest in playing that game, even if it does get rained out. On the other hand, it is meaningless WRT the postseason.
