Springfield went through six pitchers in this blowout; Arkansas hit three homers, including Mike Napoli's 31st. The Travs turned four double plays, but also made two errors. The win broke a six-game skid, and enabled the team to take the division outright. This was Arkansas' last game of the regular season.
2005-09-04: Rancho Cucamonga 3, Inland Empire 6 #

With the loss, Cedar Rapids was eliminated from the postseason. They play one last game tomorrow.

Ogden gets revenge, kinda, for Friday's extra-innings extravaganza. Like Friday's game, this one went to twelve, but the ending was more soothing to Ogden fans. Mark Trumbo struck out swinging to make the final out.

Orem's final game is on September 8; they retain a one-game lead over Ogden.

St. Lucie broke a 55-year-old strikeout mark in today's game, recording 1,197 on the season, with Dodgers pitching garnering 13 in today's game alone. Maybe this is in part why the Mets have purged their scouting operations over the last few days, reassigning vice president of scouting Gary LaRocque. Nine others have been fired or demoted in the scouting department.
