Pickoff Moves

A "Bargain" Depending On Whose Side You're On

There's a certain species of flea market shopper -- aw, hell, most packaged goods in the US are sold this way -- who thinks it's not about the price but how much they saved. You know -- it's a bargain. The city of Anaheim doesn't agree with this definition:
The city contends it wouldn't have paid $20 million for stadium renovations without an understanding the Anaheim name would be featured prominently.

The Angels counter that the city did not pay to name the team but did get "quite a bargain" for its contribution — Disney paid the other $98 million in renovations and signed a 20-year lease to keep the Angels in "the city's own aging stadium" one year after it had been abandoned by the NFL's Rams.

And, if that ain't enough...
The Angels also claim Anaheim's key evidence — a declaration by then-Angel president Tony Tavares that fully supports the city's position — cannot be considered by the appellate court because it was not submitted by the Jan. 21 hearing that spurred the appeal.
Remember, Curt, it's not about the dollars you spent, it's how much you saved...

Morales In Camp By Monday. No, Really

The Times says Kendry Morales will be in camp by Monday.

Why are you waffing?

Angels Injuries

Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch! In that same article (and others, given below):

Gagné Out Sick

Not to leave out the boys in blue... aside from the other injuries, Gagné has the flu; no ETA given for his return.

Nomo's Not Feeling So Good Either

... in that same story, Hideo Nomo's fastball was clocked in the mid-80's. He gave up eight hits and six runs in four innings. He'll be given another chance, but c'mon...

That Competitive Horse-Walking Sure Is Expensive

Better-Late-Than-Never Dep't:
Even the Diamondbacks, who whined about losing money for several years, got heavily involved by trading for Shawn Green and signing Troy Glaus (he can barely throw) for $45 million and Russ Ortiz (second in the NL in walks) for $33 million. The D-backs, 111-game losers, were so eager to sign Glaus, who missed most of last season with shoulder problems, that they agreed to pay his wife, Ann, $250,000 a year to pursue her equestrian career.
Does Dallas McPherson have either a wife, or a horse? I think not...

There Is No Joy In DodgerKidLand, Only More Blogging

But will there be even more venom than before, now that he's not getting laid? And is that possible?

Comments:
"Both los dos" is redundant.

But then so is "Los Angeles Angels."
