Bills Redeems Kemp's Blunder: Dodgers 5, Padres 0
Now there are those who say this was not a routine play or that it was a busted hit-and-run with no time to recover. To this I call BS, because, first of all, Kemp had time to not only orient himself toward the outfield and find out what was going on, he had an opportunity to hop twice on second and head back for home after standing there for what seemed like two or three seconds. Moreover, if he thought the outfield was deking him, why were two outfielders converging on the ball? Really, just a terrible play for Kemp, who seems to be full of these kinds of rookie mistakes lately.
Luckily for him, the Dodgers picked up their only win of the series, with Chad Billingsley on the mound to do the honors. As Jon points out, Bills is now the NL Rookie ERA leader for pitchers with a minimum of 80 innings pitched. Go, Bills.
